theres a fall chill in the air!!!

Phew phew!!! im so happy, ive never loved getting goose bumps so much in my life!! summer here has been a total wack job! my hair has been a humidity embracing frizz bomb for 3 months straight- accept for the occasional 'drowned rat' look i adopted on a couple of flash flood occasions when i found myself without an umbrella and with only a somewhat sparse tree for shelter (see below) that afternoon was actually kind of amazing!

so im working from home and over eating/drinking too much coffee as usual today. the worst thing to do is over eat when you realy dont have anything fun or very nutritional in the kitchen (thats the case today) but somehow i still manage it. humpfh. :)
i just finished off the last of the m&s tea cakes Jen and Pete sent me from Bristol, UK. so now.. naturally all i can think about is the fact that capagiro is only like 5 blocks from my house... MUST.. R E S I S T.... I C E C R E A M.....

anyway... today im feeling really good about wearing my favourite jeans and this pretty crazo blouse.. breezy...smiley...inspired!

hump day

i was definetaly in a hump for most of the day but this face

and this taste...

helped a little...

then this was super super good..

le viet new (ish) vietnamese resturant at 11th and washington, sweet server and good food, kind of weird not very relaxing atmosphere (if i had to critique) but i was with CY so didnt even notice.. (the phillys game in the background-weird)

and now shavertown :)

burger time

last night was the bomb... hawethornes burger did the trick quite nicely and the shoe string fries were just the job... add some of their home made grainy mustard and its melt in your mouth tastyness..
oh and i should probably mention they have my favourite beer on tap right now, Japanese brand hitachino-nest, which i first tried because Aaron would drag me to fancy beer stores and i would pick my selection based on the bottles (i fell for the owel logo big time) see hitachino on cool hunting here

And im lucky lucky lucky again tonight cos i get to hang with my girl Yotter

unless were super lucky like the time above when we got to watch the sunset with friends and polish beers on this rad south philly roof, we will probably just be drinking and eating and smiling somewhere else ;) Yeay for us!

trains, busses and bus drivers..

took up most of my morning, so it was very eventful, first thing, regional train, stressful i hate those situations where u dont really know where the ticket office is.. your not sure if your on the right platform.. can you pay on the train? in that case do i need the right change? how much is it going to cost? oh wait this train terminates before my stop? oh if i get this other train i can get closer to where i want to be hence not having to transfer onto a bus but i may...really?... walk 15 mins and boom there i am... awesome.. and by a stroke of magic and with the help of a sweet girl at the st helping me out with ticket questions (and complimenting my accent) i made it to the dr ON TIME anyone that knows me well enough will smile at that, i always feel smug to be on time, i was even early the other day... but that meant standing out in the rain and cold for 5 mins.. these situations seem to fall on me at times when im running early (rare) for things, and they add to the reasons that im not very often found running early... for anything.

so, after thats stressful 20 mins at the st, i had a nice 15min walk, my dr visit (serious back issues) a mini massage and i was back on he road again.. this time a bus. the driver was feirce, i dont know how to describe her any better than to say she had copper hair, black skin, solid solid calfs and an aggressive aura. she was pretty rad. she helped me to.. at first she scared me then i realised shes just more of a 'tough love' kinda girl... and then she can accross and duper sweet. next i found myself on the train 'underground' where i was so into my book (eat, pray love by liz gilbert) that this guy id been checking out earlier had to tell me 'hey miss.. this is that last stop'..

are.. you... serious.. another train, then a bus and finally im at work... oh YEAY :) and all that before 11am.
i will add though that bus driver number 2 (white hair late 40's, the size of 2 men) flattered me when i stepped on the bus to be greeted with 'designer or model?'
thank you cutie, you just made my day...

mothers day in the motherland...

nan and Zozo... love this pic

mum with baby jessie

mum and i before my move to the US

All mums are wonderful, when you think about what they have been through for us, mums show their love in many different ways, my mum was always reserved about the word love. Love wasn't a word that fell from my mums lips easily, but i always felt it, she has unique ways of showing her affection which ultimately just makes her even more awesome, she brought 7 of us into this world and is now an amazing (and favourite) grandmother of 5!!

She has been through so much, she has been a constant vision of strength for me throughout my life, she has been my teacher and my friend, she would never ever judge me, letting me make my own decisions from a young age, granted they were decisions like 'what am i going to wear today' and sometimes when i look back a photos i think 'really mum i could have used your guidance there a little bit... with that outfit'  but all the decision making and Independence and embarrassing outfits made me who i am, and for that i am grateful, i know shes so proud of me but i don't know if she is as proud of herself as she should be, she deserves the world she deserves to be loved and pampered every minute of everyday and i hope, one day at last she might know this.

my other vision of strength, my other teacher when i was growing up was my Nan, she has unstoppable strength! eternally funny, loving and strong. i cant imagine life without her.

Happy mothers day to two of the finest women on the planet!! i love you xxx
